It wasn't long before the demand for aluminum patio chairs would prompt designers to begin showing outdoor chairs made of aluminum. Chairs made by Alcoa, the first aluminum maker in America, resembled old furniture styles made of wood.

Aluminum legs were made to look like turned wood legs and were even painted to look like wood grain. As buyers began to enjoy the modern look of aluminum furniture it took on its own look.

In the 70's and 80's plastic patio furniture became the rage replacing aluminum. Recently, consumers have once again began to enjoy the durability and light weight of aluminum patio furniture and designers are responded with chairs that are stylish and modern.
